Creating a landmark

“Used and trusted!” This is the reason why Salepoint was commissioned to fit out another brand new branch of PTS plumbers trade merchant, PTS, according to the company’s marketing manager, Nicola Wood. The store in Guildford represents a landmark for the company which is owned by The BSS Group and is one of the largest UK distributors of plumbing, heating and sanitaryware products. This is the 200th branch to be opened in the UK and Salepoint has been instrumental in refurbishing and fitting out a significant number of these outlets.

Salepoint supplied metal display shelving and display fittings in red and grey for the plumbing stock, incorporating the company’s distinctive logo. In a new venture, Salepoint also provided point of sale items including corporate literature and contractors’ notice boards for the customers.

Picture Perfect

Chestnut Roofing Supplies of Liverpool is a second generation roofing materials supplier. When the current owner, Cliff Cato decided to expand his business, he contacted Salepoint for an internal refit that would make optimum use of the new premises. The site had begun life as a cinema, and graduated through as a health and fitness centre until Chestnut Roofing Supplies acquired the building, by now derelict. Space became a luxury and it was down to Salepoint to devise a solution.

Chestnut Roofing’s new shop was a challenge as the owner wanted to expand his existing roofing supply business as well as to incorporate general building materials. Therefore, Salepoint had to devise shelving and racking system designs that would enhance both product ranges.

By providing a range of systems including A frame shelving, long span and normal cantilever racking units, Salepoint formed displays that accommodated all stock, without over or underloading the available space. The bulky roofing materials stock for which Chestnut Roofing is renowned are now displayed clearly and concisely with the promotion of the light side building materials displayed more in the format of a showroom.

The learning curve that leads to success

TG Builders Merchants worked hand-in-glove with Salepoint at the company’s Northwich and Ellesmere branches. Salepoint provided 3D CAD designs to perfect the scheme and then produced a comprehensive range of fittings, in corporate colours, for the shop and warehouse.

Not only did turnover increase dramatically but also higher-margin products, such as expensive workwear, have been introduced thus pushing up profits higher.

Across the Board

Salepoint has been instrumental in supplying and installing new trade counter shopfittings in a corporate branding programme for the SIG Group which aims to maximise sales and profitability. The Group comprises four divisions – roofing, insulation, commercial interiors and specialist construction and safety. Salepoint has already refurbished a number of branches within the group over the past two years and has recently completed new installations for Sheffield Insulations, one of the companies within the insulation division.

The shopfittings were installed to attract additional sales from customers who come to collect. Sheffield Insulations wanted to expand operations to maximise the sales opportunities within the establishment, and installing new trade counter fittings was the obvious solution. “By modernising the counter area, we are now able to display more of our stock to our customers, giving them the opportunity to purchase what they need at the point of sale,” explains a spokesman from Sheffield Insulations. “This has obviously increased our sales and expanded our business with this provision of a specific self-selection area.”
